Shakespeare by the Sea’s Indie Theatre Residency Program is designed to give independent theatrical work in Halifax a home. Our low-risk producing model makes it possible for small or emerging theatre companies to use the Park Place Theatre as a venue for the rehearsal and production of their work. SBTS acknowledges that venue rental is often the largest budget line for independent productions, and we want to mitigate that risk!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Independent Theatre companies, collectives or individuals to produce a production at The Park Place Theatre. Whether it’s the first production of a new work, a cool new imagining of an existing play, or you need space and time to develop a collective creation, the Park Place Theatre could be the place to support you and your collaborators. Our aim is to eliminate, as much as possible, the financial risk associated with producing theatre independently for local companies using the Equity Collective Policy or similar form of contract.
