In the event of bad weather, Shakespeare by the Sea's performances are held in The Park Place Theatre located in the bottom parking lot of Point Pleasant Park (5480 Point Pleasant Drive). The indoor/outdoor call is made two hours before the scheduled performance time and will be listed on our website and our social media pages. If the show is indoors and you have purchased a Sweet Seat Ticket in advance, your seat will be held at the Park Place Theatre until 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time, at which point the space will made available to the next audience member in line. If this takes place, you may contact our ticket retailer to have your tickets transferred to another performance in the future. Please plan to arrive early to avoid inconvenience.
Before you come to the park, be sure to check our social media for updates on the location of the show. If inclement weather is expected, the show will NOT take place outdoors in the battery, but Indoors at the park place theatre (5480 Point Pleasant Drive). Be sure to always check, even if the weather seems lovely in the afternoon. We update the social media for weather at 5pm. All of the matinees take place at the Park Place Theatre, regardless of the weather.
For an OUTDOOR show, we’ve got to get inside the park!
We recommend entering through the TOWER ROAD entrance. You’ll see our shakespeare by the sea sign, and you do not need to make any turns on this wide and smooth path. Just walk straight ahead along beautiful cambridge drive for about 10-20 minutes depending on your walking speed, and there you’ll arrive onsite for the show. you might see some of our signs along the way! This path is also accessible for wheelchairs, power chairs, and strollers that can withstand fine gravel.
If you or someone you care about would like to come to one of our shows but are unable to make the trek by foot, you may book a ride on our complimentary golf cart service. Just call with at least 24 hours advance notice, and we’ll book you in. Just give us a call at 902 422 0295. We’d love to give you a lift!
For an INDOOR show, we do not offer a golf cart ride, but the theatre is directly accessible by car as well as wheelchair accessible. If you are planning to attend an indoor show and are a wheelchair user, simply call or email in advance of the show so that we may accommodate seating.
