Summer 2020 CLASSES

Please note that, in accordance with our approved re-opening plan, registration in all summer programming requires adherance to all safety protocols outlined in our re-opening document.

It is of utmost concern to us that all staff and students feel encouraged to self-identify any of the signs or symptoms on the most up-to-date list from Public Health. If it is a staff member who must stay home, that class will be moved online and taught via Zoom until the staff member can be reasonably sure they do not have COVID-19. While we wish we could guarantee a certain amount of notice about this change, it is important that we make the change immediately, if it becomes necessary.

While we recognize that the beauty of Point Pleasant Park is far superior to that of a computer screen, health and safety must be our top priority.

FOR SENIOR STUDENTS (aged 9-14):

Senior Scene Study

Format: 2 60-minute online coachings + 4 90-minute in-person outdoor classes in the Cambridge Battery in Point Pleasant Park.

Fee: $125 + HST

Ages: 9-14 (students will be divided into smaller groups according to both age and experience level...we’ll do our best to take requests, no guarantees, though)

This class will dive into classical acting technique and practise scenes in small groups. Senior Scene Study will focus on building the skill set which illuminates classical text, all while strengthening the voice, improving body awareness, and building confidence. Students will be divided into small groups of 2-5 actors to rehearse scenes from Shakespeare. Each scene will receive a private rehearsal time slot each week to work with an instructor-director. The finished product will be filmed and sent to the families of those in the scene.

Time: Between 4:00 and 8:00PM on the following dates. Students will be assigned to smaller groups and scheduled within the time slot. Again, we’ll do our best to take requests, schedule-wise.

Schedule:
Tuesday, July 14th - Online Class (via Zoom)
Tuesday, July 21st - Online Class (via Zoom)
Tuesday, July 28th - Outdoor Class at the Cambridge Battery
Thursday, July 30th - Outdoor Class at the Cambridge Battery
Tuesday, August 4th - Outdoor Class at the Cambridge Battery
Thursday, August 6th - Outdoor Class at the Cambridge Battery

Rain Policy: the day of an outdoor class, a call will be made at 2:00PM to determine if the weather is suitable for holding class that day. If it’s raining or there’s more than a 40% chance of rain, we’ll do a Zoom class that day instead. If it rains on the last day of class (August 6th), we’ll cancel and use August 13th (the following Thursday) as our rain check day. You’ll have the option of receiving a call, email, or text message with the decision.
