THE SHAKESPEARE AUDITION

(a class for professional actors who want to work on a new Shakespeare audition speech)

Doing a speech from the works of William Shakespeare is really quite a singular type of challenge for any actor. First, you want to choose a speech that will represent you as an actor, that maybe also has to complement a contemporary piece. Maybe you are dusting off a piece from theatre school, or maybe you're working on something new...you have to learn (or re-learn!) it, make strong choices, achieve remarkable clarity of thought and intention, but still go into the audition flexible and ready to make adjustments. It's a tall order, especially if you have been without opportunities to practise.

That's where this class comes in! Work with Shakespeare by the Sea's Resident Artist, 7-season company member, and Studio Director Jade Douris-O'Hara, to find the perfect speech for the actor you are today. You'll work in a group of other professional actors working towards the same goal of having a polished, strong speech, so that you can walk into any audition with confidence. You'll also get two one-on-one private coachings as part of the session.

TOTAL COST: $399 +HST
Tuition will be billed electronically via the Square app. Payment can be scheduled as needed. Four Pay-What-You-Can spots in the class are reserved for students who self-identify as being a member of an equity-seeking group.
