2025 SUMMER SEASON

Shakespeare By The Sea is hiring crew and staff in support of the upcoming 2025 professional summer theatre season. The following positions are available:​

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER/FRONT OF HOUSE

​​​

Shakespeare by the Sea performs outdoors in Point Pleasant Park, located in Halifax/K'jipuktuk. SBTS productions run in repertory, with actors appearing in multiple productions.

 

Shakespeare by the Sea seeks to create theatre that is inviting, inclusive, and accessible to all. In seeking to gather an ensemble that reflects the diverse community we serve, we strongly encourage submissions from artists of diverse cultural backgrounds, and will be prioritizing submissions from applicants who self-identify as members of underrepresented communities.

At this time SBTS is holding interviews in-person. Folks unable to attend an interview in-person are welcome to submit, and may be invited to interview via zoom.

Associate Producer/Front of House

SBTS is seeking to fill the part time position of Associate Producer/Front of House for our 2025 Season. 

 

PERIOD: June 30-August 16th 2025

RATE: $20/hour for up to 30 hours per week 

 

The Associate Producer/FOH will contribute to the various production and creative departments at Shakespeare by the Sea during its busiest months. 

 

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic team player who can work well alone or in groups, has some experience in event coordination, artistic administration, retail or other customer service.
SBTS is seeking a candidate over the age of 25 with a valid driver’s license in order to drive a rental truck for select performances and events. 

 

Duties include: 

 

  • Box Office and Front of House management

    • Lead the Front Of House team, consulting with the other FOH personnel to ensure all audience related needs are being met.  

    • Up to five FOH shifts a week, including set up on site in Point Pleasant Park and tear down at the end of the show. 

    • Monitor and maintain ticket sales

    • Communicate with Patrons as needed to resolve issues, dealing with changes, promo codes etc.

    • Monitor cash float, merchandise sales, concessions, printed programs, and replenish when needed.

  • Social Media 

    • Consult with the Social Media Manager to maintain marketing and public relations strategies on social media platforms as needed.

  • Operations

    • Manage operational needs for the summer season including:

      • Work closely with Production Stage Manager, serving as a liaison outside of the rehearsal hall between the PSM and various departments, as needed

      • Arranging rentals as directed by the Managing Artistic Director, ie: Musical instruments, sound equipment etc.

      • Liaise with Designers and Directors to arrange purchasing or borrowing as needed, including vehicle rental as needed. 

      • Attend and manage weekly production meetings, ensuring that all departments are operating as intended.
