2026 SUMMER SEASON
Shakespeare By The Sea is hiring crew and staff in support of the upcoming 2026 professional summer theatre season. The following positions are available:
Shakespeare by the Sea performs outdoors in Point Pleasant Park, located in Halifax/K'jipuktuk. SBTS productions run in repertory, with actors appearing in multiple productions.
Shakespeare by the Sea seeks to create theatre that is inviting, inclusive, and accessible to all. In seeking to gather an ensemble that reflects the diverse community we serve, we strongly encourage submissions from artists of diverse cultural backgrounds, and will be prioritizing submissions from applicants who self-identify as members of underrepresented communities.

At this time SBTS is holding interviews in-person. Folks unable to attend an interview in-person are welcome to submit, and may be invited to interview via zoom.

Social Media Coordinator
SBTS is seeking to fill the seasonal full-time position of Social Media Coordinator for our 2026 Summer Season.
PERIOD: June 15th - August 15th 2026 (8 Weeks)
RATE: $20/hour + vac pacy (35 hours per week)
NOTICE: ***This is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position. All applicants must be under 30 years old as of January 1st, 2026.***
The Social Media Coordinator position will report to the Season Producers, and be responsible for:
-Managing and creating content for the social media accounts at Shakespeare By The Sea during the 2026 professional theatre summer season.
The successful candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky) with duties including:
-Collaborating with the Summer Season Producers on a public relations strategy
-Working directly with the artists performing in the season to create daily content for our busy social media streams
-analyzing social media interaction data
-Managing updates to the company website (hosted on the Wix platform).
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic team player who can work well alone or in groups and has experience running a social account for a company/organization.
As we are small operation, from time to time other duties may include:

Assisting the Front-Of-House team as needed, including set up on site in Point Pleasant Park and tear down at the end of the show.

Communicate with Patrons in person or on socials as needed to resolve issues, dealing with changes, promo codes etc.

Attend and manage weekly production meetings, ensuring that all departments are operating as intended.

Production Assistant
SBTS is seeking to fill the seasonal full-time position of Production Assistant for our 2026 Summer Season.
Length of contract: 12 weeks
Rate of Pay: $20/hour + vac pay (35hours per week)
NOTICE: ***This is an NS SKILLS funded position. All applicants must be returning students to a Nova Scotia based post-secondary school/institution.***
The Production Assistant positions will assist with all aspects of company operations, reporting to the Production Designer and Production Stage Manager, during the 2026 professional summer theatre season at Shakespeare By The Sea.
The position will allow returning post-secondary school students gained incredibly valuable real-world experience working towards deadlines alongside artists, designers and crew in a professional setting.
Duties/Responsibilities will include:
Working with the Production Design and Costume Design team to build and maintain set, costumes and props elements, assisting with daily set-up and strike of the performance venue (Onstage and Front of House), hanging/focusing lighting equipment, setting up/striking sound equipment, assisting the Production Stage Manager or Front of House manager with specific tasks during the running of the shows, attending production meetings as needed.
