SBTS NEW MUSICAL CREATION FUND logo.png

Big (Giving Tuesday) News!

Your Gift to Shakespeare By The Sea will be DOUBLED!

We are beyond thrilled to announce that an anonymous donor has come forward and has offered to match our $5000 fundraising goal to support the development of our newest musical adaptation, Beauty & The Beast.

Why this matters right now?

This winter, our team of Nova Scotian theatre artists begins the deep creative work of building a brand-new musical from the ground up. Your support will directly go towards the creation process, where our award-winning writing team, featuring composer Garry Williams and playwright Dan Bray, will work with SBTS Managing Artistic Director Jesse MacLean and a group of performers to shape the very first version of the show.

This stage is essential, and you can help us realize our lofty goal of staging this show in our 2026 Summer Season at Point Pleasant Park.

A sneak peek at the magic we’re building:

Our Beauty & The Beast is a modern, imaginative adaptation crafted specifically for the outdoors in Point Pleasant Park. Expect laugh-a-minute jokes, catchy music, inventive staging, and the kind of joyful summertime experience SBTS audiences love. This show will anchor our 2026 Summer Season and welcome thousands of families, including many young people seeing live theatre for the very first time.

Join the community that makes this possible!

Year after year, our audiences embrace original SBTS musicals like Alice in Wonderland, Robin Hood, and Cinderelly. Now we’re inviting you to help build the next one.

This is your chance to champion local artists, nurture new work, and ensure that SBTS continues creating accessible theatre for our community.

Donate Today. Double Your Impact.

So far we have raised 14% of our goal! $675 out of $5,000. Can you help us get the rest of the way?

Your gift will be matched, your tax receipt will be instant, and your support will fuel the creation of something truly special.

👉 Donate now on CanadaHelps and bring this new musical to life.

Together, we can make Beauty & The Beast an unforgettable experience for Halifax.

SBTSHalifax performances takes place in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people. The territory is covered by the Treaty of Peace and Friendship, which Mi'kmaq and Maliseet People first signed with the British crown in 1726.

We are forever grateful to be able to live and create art in this place, and we hope that our work joins the tradition of storytelling that has existed here long before us, documented and undocumented, acknowledging those whose names we know, and appreciating those whose names we may never know.
